The Royal Hotel is the bed and breakfast hotel that Elsa and her family go to stay in after they lost their home, in the book The Bed & Breakfast Star.

Description[]

At some point, the Royal Hotel was built and seemingly lived up to its posh sounding name, looking very grand. However, due to lack of care from the manager and staff, it soon went downhill, and gained the shabby and filthy dirty appearance it had by the time of the beginning of The Bed & Breakfast Star.

The building itself is six storeys high, and has a family room which is room 608. The sign on the outside has lost many of the letters, making it now read The Oyal Htl. It also has a breakfast hall, which hasn't got much of a choice of food.

Towards the end of the book, it catches fire, and everyone is evacuated and is unable to return.

Trivia[]

  • Elsa was pleased when the hotel was too badly damaged by the fire to return to, as they were moved to the much nicer Star Hotel.
  • The school-aged children who live there go to the local school, Mayberry School.
  • Elsa wrote silly jokes about Mack on the walls of the ladies toilets in black felt pen, which unfortunately led to Mrs. MacPherson the cleaner, getting sacked because she couldn't remove it.
