Pirate was a horse of Madame Adeline, in the book Hetty Feather.
Biography[]
Madame Adeline at some point prior to Hetty Feather bought Pirate. She loved him dearly, and he was the horse mainly used in her balancing act.
When Tanglefields Travelling Circus came to the village, Jem and the then 5 year old Hetty sneaked into the circus, and Hetty was picked to ride on Pirate with Madame Adeline.
When Hetty ran away from the Foundling Hospital on the day of the Queen's Golden Jubilee, she found the circus and Madame Adeline again. Madame Adeline vaguely remembered Hetty, and was sad when she mentioned Pirate, revealing that he'd since broken his leg and was shot.
Appearance[]
Pirate is a pure white horse with a black patch over one eye, which is where he gets his name from.
Trivia[]
- Pirate is deceased, circa 3/4 into Hetty Feather.
- Pirate was presumably Madame Adeline's favourite horse, as she was upset at Hetty mentioning him when they met up again.
- She also mentioned she never found another horse like him.
